Folding in architecture is mainly employed as a surface approach; thus the work presented here explores its use for reticular structures. Particular reticular structures made from linear folded stripes are imagined to create a wide variety of forms. This Paper presents a classification of possible approaches encountered when conceiving from folded stripes.

The first approach is based on the “time of creation” of the stripe, and the second one defines the structure by the topological properties of the stripes.

Both concepts are split into two subparts, and all of them enable a structuralisation of surfaces from single curved to double curved. All systems are creating polyhedral cells, which are assembled to reticular structures. With a combination of the subparts of each main approach, all possible structures in the family of linear folded stripes can be classified.
