The paper deals with a research project, which was initiated to verify actual effects of creep and shrinkage of normal-weight concrete and of light-weight aggregate (LWA) concrete on composite structures. For this reason, composite steel-concrete testing beams were prepared, varying in the type of the concrete used for the composite slab. The beams were 3,2 m long and they were equipped with sensors for determination of strain and temperature. Measured results are compared with values calculated according to several creep and shrinkage models. Measurements were also supplemented with tests of basic material properties of the used concrete and steel, as well as measurements of temperature and relative humidity of the surrounding environment. After finishing these measurements, the beams were used for static loading tests. This paper describes the measurements and tests realized on the beam with a normal-weight concrete composite slab.
