Abstrait:

The Forth Replacement Crossing will be a new major piece of infrastructure complementing and improving the strategic road network of the east coast of Scotland. At its centre is an iconic new bridge across the Forth Estuary. The bridge is approximately 2.6 km long and incorporates a unique 3-tower cable stayed structure with overlapping stay cables, with 2 main spans each of 650 m - the longest spans in the world for a multi-span cable stayed bridge. It is approached from the south by a multi-span approach viaduct approximately 0.5 km long.

This paper describes the developments of the Specimen Design through the dialogue and tender periods and the design considerations that were made in producing the winning design.
