Integrating Architecture and Structural Design for Timber Structures

The case is made for structural engineers, both in practice and academia, to develop an awareness of architecture and integrate their structural work into the architectural design aspirations specific to each project. In that way engineers can reestablish the "art" of structural design as fundamental to historically and culturally significant building systems.
