Abstrait:

In September 1999, a cable-stayed footbridge was opened to the public close to the railway station in Herning, Denmark. The footbridge is a key element in a research and development project regarding the use of new non-corrodible materials in bridge construction. All 16 cable stays are made of carbon-fibre-reinforced polymer (CFRP) cables, as are the six non-bonded post-tensioning tendons in the bridge deck. The reinforcement in half of the bridge deck consists of CFRP bars and stirrups. The reinforcement in the other part of the concrete deck is a combination of stainless steel (AISI 316) and conventional "black" reinforcement steel.
