Abstrait: The pre-stressed concrete composite box-girder with corrugated webs is a new type of steel-concrete structure. This type of structure can reduce the weight of girders, and correspondingly relieve the quantity of the substructure. It is of great significance for bridge engineers to investigate mechanical behavior of the box-girder, and to develop the method of design and construction. Valuable results and experience were obtained from model tests. The test results indicated that the corrugated steel webs offered a negligible contribution to the moment carrying capacity of the girder. Corrugated steel webs were prevented from buckling effectively for appropriate setting of diaphragms in the lengthwise direction. The box-girder characterized by a typical flexural failure. Some design suggestions are presented in this paper, especially about the importance of shear connections.
