Abstrait:

The cable-stayed Jackfield Bridge is the new neighbour of the world famous Iron Bridge and several other historic bridges in the Iron Bridge Gorge, Shropshire, England. The Jackfield Bridge uses composite steel and concrete sections for both the tower and the deck, which is supported from the tower by high tensile locked coil ropes. Special steel castings, bearings and parapets were designed. After detailed inspections and structural assessments in 1986, the decision was taken that the bridge could no longer carry traffic loading and had to be replaced, after 77 years of service.
