| Abstrait: | The construction of a geometrically complex steel-glass gridshell roof is part of the extension of the Chadstone Shopping Centre in Melbourne, Australia. The freeform glass roof covers the new retail area and lights the spacious shopping galleries. The airy elegance and delicate character of the structure dominate the appearance of the space. This essay describes design and construction of the roof structure, taking into account fabrication and installation processes. |
