Abstrait:

The Hålogaland suspension Bridge will cross the Rombak fjord near Narvik in the northern part of Norway when it is completed in 2016. The bridge has a main span of 1145m which will make it the fifth longest spanning European bridge. Having transversely inclined cable planes the bridge will become the world’s longest bridge with a spatial cable system.

The paper identifies various technical issues related to the spatial cable system, and illustrates constructive solutions to overcome the difficulties classical suspension bridges do not have to the same degree.
