Abstrait:

Because of poor maintenance and war actions in Bosnia and Herzegovina there are many degraded, damaged and demolished bridges. This bridge was one of the bridges considered unusable after engineers investigated the structure. This original structure was a continuous reinforced concrete bridge with a sunken road surface, which had been in constant use for more than sixty years. Another, important reason for designing and constructing a new bridge was the problem of controlling heavy traffic at this main crossroads. Traffic conditions have changed and developed significantly since the construction of the original bridge. A new traffic solution had to be realised to cope with modern traffic. The characteristic elements of the new bridge are: main span of 75,01 m; back span of 17,27 m; beam of constant maximal height 1,65 m; curved pylon, height of 24,25 m from the pavement structure.
