Dr Fazlur R. Khan (1929-1982)

This article marks the beginning of a new rubric - Eminent Engineers - in SEI. It presents the life and work of Dr Fazlur R.Khan, one of the most eminent structural engineers of recent times, who invigorated the engineering profession and established many of the conventional methods available to designers today. In this short contribution the author, his daughter Yasmin Sabina Khan, renders Dr Khan's personal background and describes his innovative approach to Design and at the same time his practical commitment to progress and to interdisciplinary collaboration.
