Abstrait:

Aerial spinning techniques have generally only been used for large suspension bridges due to the increased erection costs compared with the use of locked-coil cables. However, due to the increased cost-effectiveness of aerial spinning in the last ten years, the use of aerial spinning and locked-coil cables was compared for two-medium-span narrow suspension bridges in Norway. After full development of bids based on the two techniques, it was found that, despite the total quantity of spinning wire being only 2000 t over two bridges, the aerial-spinning alternative was cheaper and was thus selected for construction.
